The existing day care building from 1964 needed to be renovated but wasn't salvageable. Therefore a new building was planned as a passive house. The design's prominent feature is the folded roof that stretches from north to south and expands over the southern rooftop terrace. Beacuse the building was designed and built as a certified passive house the detail features on the folded roof were more complex than usual to develop.
The day care centre was erected as a timber-frame-construction. In addition a geothermal heat pump was added to facilitate an under floor heating system as requested by the community.
