gross floor space_
interior remodelling on the 5th floor,
swimming pool renovation with a wellness area on the 6th floor
stages 1 - 8
A former client's sister contracted us in July 2010 to remodel her 200m2 5th floor apartment, originally built during the 1970s in Frankfurt Westend. During the construction phase the project was expanded to renovating their 6th floor as well. The 160 m2 top floor including a private swimming pool area that neededto be completely renovated.
The challenge on the 5th floor was to create an additional bedroom for our client. Since residents were living in the building at the time, this needed to be done without any elaborate structural changes. This resulted in the construction of a built-in room devider that seperates the new bedroom from the hall.
The partition wall has built-in cabinets that are made of high gloss varnished (piano finish) solid timber boards. To emphasize the idea of a deviding wall the side and top elements are faced by crystal mirrors.
The floorring in the entire apartment was renewed with triple whitened oak floorboards incorperating an under floor heating system which is directly connected to the central heating system. All existing doors were removed by a carpenter, taken to his workshop, restored, painted white and reinstalled.
The indoor swimming pool was gutted and the old technology removed. Afterwards the original skimmer pool was reconstructed to a pool with an overflow channel. The entire swimming pool was built as a welded steel construction. The old sauna area was redesigned to a small wellness oasis with the designer sauen Pure by KLAFS, afragranced bath with thermal benching, changing rooms, a lavatory and shower, as well as a small kitchen.
All rooms are eqipped with integrated air conditioning in the ceiling. The indoor facilitiy also possesses an intake and exhaust air system with a built-in recuperator for heating.
